2003 Mustang Cobra Svt Review
Richard Bach once said A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed…It feels an impulsion…this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds and you will know too when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons. Richard has left out some need to know information How do we get beyond the horizon? Well for those of you seeking the answer. You get beyond the horizon in a Ford Mustang.
In 1993 Ford had a brilliant idea to create a special inhouse team that will focus on pure power and performance. They named the group the Special Vehicle Team and for years it was the only one of its kind. Chief engineer for Ford SVT was John Coletti who was able to push out some of the best and most powerful cars on the market.
In 2003 Coletti had completed his 10th year in operation of SVT and sold 100000 high performance cars. This included the SVT Lightning and the fourth generation SVT Cobra Mustang. In order to celebrate this milestone they created one of the highest rated horsepower and torque Mustangs that they could during that time. The total cost of this special edition Cobra was 34750 with the convertible costing 38850.
The 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang is built with the fourvalve aluminum heads that can also be found on the Mustang Mach 1 but it is also built with an Eaton Rootstype supercharger. This engine pushes out 390 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 390 poundft of torque at 3500 rpm.
It also comes with a T56 six speed manual transmission bigger tires improved brakes and stiffer rear spring that can handle more power. The interior is finished with some brushed aluminum accents heavily bolstered Nudo leather bucket seats and titanium colored gauges.
